Private Classes

Interested in learning how to forge Damascus? Maybe you want to learn how to forge a sword, or a candle holder, or hinges for a door, or…well…..anything you can think of. You may just want to pick up some new skills. I can teach you how to forge weld, upset, split steel, etc. Do you need some custom tooling, and want to learn how to make it? We can spend a day or two building tongs, punches, drifts, and hardy tools. We can make all that happen in a private one on one class.

You tell me what the project is, and I’ll tell you how many days we can expect it to take. This is a great way to learn new skills and techniques, as well as become familiar with using and making your own tooling. Level up your forging skills!

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Head on over to my contact page and write me an email detailing what you’d like to learn. I generally only have time during the week for private classes, not on the weekends.

Once we’ve discussed it I’ll send you a link to the page where you can pay for it.

How much does it cost?

As a general rule private classes run $250 a day. For most situations this will cover the cost of materials as well as fuel. I like to start my day at 10am, and we will usually work until 5pm, with a lunch break in the middle.

This is not a great way for someone who’s never forged before to make a custom sword for themselves. These private classes are a way for novice and intermediate smiths to pick up more advanced skills. These private classes are about learning skills and picking up new techniques, not necessarily going home with a finished product. A sword requires many hours of finishing, and you don’t need to pay me $250 to watch you hand sand for 8 hours.
